Music-Bio-Nutshell...I've been playing music recreationally all of my life. I play piano, drums, guitar, bass, and some people say I can sing. Songwriting is what drove me to do all this website stuff, and writing music continues to be one my favorite things to do.
I'm a home project studio guy, self taught sound engineer, and for me learning the tech side was more of a practical choice than a real desire to record my own songs. Thinking back to my early Tascam 688 1/4" cassette days, I'm glad I took the time to learn digital recording technology and today use a computer and music software to record and produce my songs. It was a lot more than I expected...a stiff learning curve...but I have no regrets.
I write most of my songs first on my spinet piano, and then I arrange and record the final arrangements using a Roland A-90 keyboard. These "RoughCuts" are single take recordings, rough mixes, and often are the first time a song is actually recorded. Recently I've started to serve things up online, deal with the business end a little more, and handle the social media.
Whew! That's why I don't play "Live,"....There's No Time!
So far it's been a solo project, a very long time in the making, and to me a lot more than just a hobby. Overall, I guess I'm starting to take my music to the next level, Whatever that is?...Bill
